NEW LEGAL ASSISTANT

Congratulations and sincere appreciation to Helen Steele who successfully completed her legal traineeship with Primrose & Gordon on 23rd August 2012 and assumed her new permanent position as a fully-qualified Legal   Assistant with the Firm.  Helen (pictured left) said “I am delighted to be continuing my legal career at Primrose & Gordon.  Law offers such a wide diversity both in the people you meet and areas of Law you deal with, it’s a very interesting job.  I look foward to my years to come at the firm and thank all at Primrose & Gordon for their support and assistance throughout my Traineeship”.

The end of August also saw our present Legal Trainee Toni Pentecost (also pictured) complete the first year of her 2 year training.  Toni intends to apply for her Restricted Practicing Certificate so that she can soon begin to appear in Court.  Both of these ‘budding’ young Solicitors are pictured in the garden at 1 Newall Terrace.

Landlord Bulletin – Tenancy Deposit Scheme

TENANCY DEPOSITS

The Tenancy Deposit Schemes (Scotland) Regulations 2011 took effect from 2nd July, 2012.  The Regulations apply to all Registered Landlords.  The effect of the legislation means that Landlords (or Agents) can no longer personally retain their tenants’ deposits.  Tenancy deposits must now be held by an approved independent third party organisation, which will facilitate dispute resolution between the Landlord and Tenant at the termination of a tenancy (in the event that this is required). Any Landlord failing to comply with the Regulations could face a penalty of up to three times the tenancy deposit amount.

The date by which tenancy deposits must be lodged with one of the approved organisations varies, depending on the start date of the tenancy.  Please contact our office for further information.
