New Bells at St John’s
- Posted on : 6th November 2013
There was some excitement in the locality on the morning of Monday 4th November 2013 when a large transporter carrying six of the eight new bells to be installed at St John the Evangelist Church (opposite our office) arrived from Whitechapel Bell Founders in London. One of the six bells (it’s the one painted black) had been newly cast – the others had come from the former Quarriers Homes in Bridge of Weir in Renfrewshire. The oldest of these bells was originally founded in the 19th Century.
We were privileged to have a ‘ring side’ (!) view of this momentous event. We understand that St Johns are now ‘appealing’ for bell ringers. Any interested parties should give St. John’s Secretary David Kerr a ‘ring’ on 07754-596140.
Our photo shows Canon Robin Paisley the Rector of St John’s, Bell-installers and well-wishers including our Partner John Lawson (3rd from left)
The first ring of the new bells is expected soon. Primrose & Gordon send our warm congratulations to the Rector and Congregation on this marvellous achievement. ‘Long may they ring!’
