‘The Housing (Scotland) Act 1987 (Tolerable Standard) (Extension of Criteria) Order 2019’

From 1st February 2022 the law is changing in Scotland will hence forth require all homes to have interlinked smoke and heat alarms.  Carbon monoxide detectors will also be required if you have gas appliances such as a gas boiler or gas cooker.  If you do not have these fitted and a harmful event occurred, your Buildings Insurance could possibly be voided or a claim under the policy refused or abated.

When selling your property if you do not have these alarms it will be mentioned in the Home Report.  If you do have them along an Electricians Certificate the Home Report will state you do comply.
